Doubletree Chester
The Doubletree Chester is a great hotel for a wedding. I have filmed a few weddings there before and they have always been great. The staff are so helpful and approachable. The wedding co-ordinator at this wedding was so good at liaising with myself and the photographer. She let us know about what they had in mind and timings for the day. It ensured that things ran smoothly throughout the day.
Bridal prep
I arrived at the Doubletree Chester a few hours before the wedding ceremony was due to start. This was to film the bridal preparations. The bride and bridesmaids were wearing their matching dressing gowns and some had their hair and make up done already. I like to arrive a little after the bridal prep has started so that everyone can get settled in. It’s nice to start the day early and capture the special moments before the ceremony even starts. It was lovely to film the groom opening his gifts from the bride, as his reactions were so happy. He was full of smiles. It will be nice for the bride to see this on the wedding video.
It was lovely to film all of the emotion and reactions of the bridesmaids and brother of the bride when the bride revealed her wedding dress. There were so many happy tears! I’m hoping there will be more happy tears when the bride watches this back no the wedding film.
Wedding ceremony
The ceremony took place in the dedicated ceremony room. It has the feel of a modern converted barn with it’s exposed brick walls. There’s also lots of light that comes into the room through the massive windows. This is great for the video and photos. The bride and groom said their vows, exchanged rings and were declared man and wife in front of their family and friends. They also had some lovely readings during the ceremony, which the groom said he was glad they had on video.
Photoshoot
The grounds at the Doubletree Chester are gorgeous. There is a pond with water feature at the front of the building and formal gardens to the side, which are all great for the formal shots. The group photos took place on the lawn. Later on in the day, we took the bride and groom out to the pond for some shots. These looked quite dramatic as the sun was setting.
Reception
The first dance looked very romantic. The newlyweds were surrounded by fairy lights and a sign that said ‘Mr and Mrs Baker’. The guests all joined the couple on the dance floor half way through the first dance. Everyone continued to dance after this.
