Thornton Hall
Thornton Hall was the reception venue for Anna and Richard’s Greek wedding. I was excited to film my first Greek wedding after filming lots of Greek christenings at the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas in Liverpool. I had filmed the christenings for both of the couples’ children before filming their wedding so it felt extra special. It was also nice to be back at Thornton Hall Hotel, as it’s such a lovely venue. The gardens always have pretty flowers and the pond at the front of the hotel looks great on camera.
Bridal prep
The day started with the bridal prep at the Anna’s parent’s house. There was an amazing spread of food for all of the bride’s family that were coming to the house before the ceremony. There was lots of music, dancing and traditional ceremonies, which was great on the wedding film. You can watch some of the snippets from the day on the teaser trailers below.
St. Nicholas Church
The Greek Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas Church in Liverpool is a stunning building. It’s always a pleasure to work there. The ceremony was held here. You can see from the short film below that there was lots to see during the ceremony. There were some traditions such as marital crowns, blessing the rings, lighting of candles and sipping from the common cup.
Dancing!
I have never seen so much dancing at a wedding before! The Greek dancing that I’ve seen at christening parties has always been so much fun. There was even more at Anna and Richard’s wedding reception. It started when the couple and their family were introduced into the room. When they reached the dance floor, the dancing started and confetti was released. The money dance towards the end of the night was quite something. It was great to see all of the Greek traditions and capture them on camera.
