FAQ’s

Wedding videos in North West | Cheshire | Liverpool | Chester | Wirral

Here are some of your wedding video FAQ’s answered.

How long will the wedding video be?

The full wedding video is generally 60-120 minutes, depending on how long the ceremony and speeches go on for. Sometimes, it’s less than this if it’s a civil ceremony and the speeches are brief. It can go on for longer if it’s a full mass and there are a lot of speeches. Your wedding DVD is split into sections including bridal prep, ceremony, photoshoot, speeches, reception and your highlights. Your highlights video is about 3 minutes and goes online for you to share with family and friends as well as on your DVD.

How do I book?

If you would like to book me to film your wedding you can request a booking form. This asks for details such as your venue, ceremony time and video package. This needs to be completed and sent back to me along with the deposit of £150 to secure your day. The rest of the payment is then due 2 weeks before your wedding day. Some people like to pay this earlier to get it out of the way. It’s also fine to pay in instalments if you want to spread the cost.

How do we pay?

The easiest way to pay is by online bank transfer. All of the bank details will be on the bottom of the booking form. You can also use these details to pay over the phone with your bank or by going into the bank to pay. I always confirm receipt of your payment so that you know that it’s arrived safely. Cash is accepted, as are cheques if you prefer that.

Do we need to do anything on the day?

You don’t need to do anything on the day, as my style of filming is a natural documentary style. I film the day as it happens. I tend to follow the lead of your photographer on the day and I do come along to film the photoshoot with the photographer to capture all of your family and couples shots.

Will I be conscious of the camera all the time?

A lot of couples say that they forget that they are being filmed. I don’t ask people to perform for the camera so you can relax and be yourself. A lot of the wedding guests don’t even realise the day is being filmed! My camera has a hefty zoom lens so I don’t have to be up close to get a good shot.

How long will I have to wait to see the wedding video?

The highlights video takes about 2-3 weeks after your wedding. The online version will be sent to you so you can get a sneak peek of what’s yet to come on the full wedding video. The final version will be ready in another 4-6 weeks after you have received your highlights video. This can sometimes be longer at peak times but we will keep you updated on when it will be ready.

How do you work with the photographer?

I work with lots of different photographers and we always work well together. On the day, I follow their lead and work around them so that we’re not getting in each others way on the day. I always like to introduce myself before the wedding day, if I don’t know them already, so that they know there will be a videographer on the day. I work with Bill Corris Photography on a regular basis and we offer a joint package. You can find details on our Special Offers page. You can also visit Bill Corris’ website.

Can we meet before the day?

We can meet before your wedding day to discuss all the details. If it’s more convenient for you, we can talk on the phone. I like to visit the church and venue before the day if I haven’t been there before to get my bearings.

What equipment do you use?

I use full HD, Sony HXR-NX3 camera to film the wedding day along and edit on Final Cut Pro Studio.

Which areas do you cover?

I’m based in Widnes, Cheshire so cover the nearby areas. I tend to cover the North West of England and North Wales. If the drive is over an hour, I will have to charge for milage at 45ppm for anything over that radius. Depending on how far away the wedding venue is, I may have to charge for accommodation for a night. It’s so important to be at the venue in plenty of time so travelling for hours on the morning of the wedding isn’t a good idea, just in case there are any hold-ups on the motorways.  I always arrive early at weddings and schedule in plenty of time to get there.

Can I buy additional copies?

Yes, you can purchase additional copies of the USB, in a case for £25 each. These make great presents for parents. Additional copies of the DVD are £20 each.

Can I have my wedding video on DVD/USB?

Yes, you can have your wedding video on a DVD or a USB. It’s now more popular to opt for the USBs as they are more reliable. You can also share the files with other people without the need to buy additional copies like you would for a DVD. It’s also an option to have the digital files transferred over by something like WeTransfer so that you can simply download them to your computer. You can them share these files with whoever you like. You can find details on package additions on our Prices page.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, I have public liability insurance. Some venues request that their suppliers have this in order to work at their venue. They sometimes ask for proof of insurance, which I can send to them if required.

Are you DBS checked?

Yes. I have an up to date DBS check.

Will you need a meal?

I don’t ask for a meal to be provided at a wedding. If I’m working the full day and a meal is offered, it’s greatly appreciated, even if it’s just a sandwich. It helps to keep me going for filming the evening reception!
