Tips for stress free bridal prep

On the morning of your wedding, it feels as though there’s so much to do. Here are some tips for a stress free bridal prep so that you can start your day as you mean to go on.

1.Try to go to bed early the night before. It can be tempting to stay up late chatting with your bridesmaids and having a few too many glasses of bubbly, but think of the next day. You want to be as fresh as a daisy when you wake up at stupid o’clock in the morning to start the hair and make-up.

2. Eat something before you get into your wedding dress. The day will be busy and full of emotion. You don’t want to be feeling light headed when you’re doing your photos because you haven’t eaten all day.

3. Have all of your dress hung up somewhere safe. Lay out your shoes along with all the other bits and pieces that you might need. Your photographer and videographer will want to get shots of them if they are covering the bridal prep. It also means that you know where everything is and won’t need to be rummaging around looking for that special bracelet are wondering where your veil is on the day.

4. For a stress free bridal prep, get ready nearby or at the venue because you don’t have to factor into the time it takes to travel to the venue into your day. You can spend more time getting ready.

5. Music can really help to put everyone into a good mood. Play some uplifting songs to start the day on the right track. It could be a good idea to have some relaxing tunes on your playlist as well. You can play these if you start to feel a little bit stressed.

6. Always allow plenty of time to get your make-up & hair done. Your make-up artist and hair stylist will be able to advise you on how much time you need to get ready. This will be dependant on how many people are having their hair and make-up done. It’s also important to not leave the bride to last so that you don’t feel stressed if you’re waiting around and feel like time is ticking on. The brides hair and make-up can always be tweaked before you get into your dress.

7. Designate someone to take calls on the morning so that you’re not bombarded by your guests asking for directions or the groomsmen asking about buttonholes. Your chief bridesmaid would be a good person to choose. If they have all of the contacts of the suppliers, they can make any last minute calls if needed.

8. It’s a good idea to limit the amount of people in the room when you’re getting ready. Sometimes, things can get quite noisy and hectic, especially as the ceremony gets closer. It’s nice to have a quieter space where you can just take it all in and be calm for a while. Have a bit of quiet time to yourself before the day kicks off.

9. Make sure that the bridesmaids are all ready before you get into your dress so that they can be on hand to help you with your shoes, veil and any final touches. They can make sure that everything is ready to take with you like lipstick and hairpins.

10. Practice getting your dress on before the day, especially if you have complicated fastenings. The last thing you want is to be struggling with the dress at the last minute. Select one or two people to go with you to dress fittings that know how to do up your dress so that by the time your wedding day arrives, they are experts.
