Abbey House Hotel

Abbey House Hotel, Cumbria

Abbey House Hotel in Cumbria is a beautiful wedding venue. I had the privilege of filming Catherine and Paul’s wedding there in February. Luckily, the weather was really nice, despite the time of year and it being in the Lakes! You never can tell in this country if there will be nice weather.

Setting up for filming

Usually, I arrive about an hour before the start of the ceremony, unless I’m filming the bridal prep. I like to get to the venue early so that I can set up and to film some shots of the wedding details like the dresses and flowers if the bride is already at the venue. I also filmed some shots of the Abbey House Hotel, as it looks so grand and almost like a castle. You can see the red bricked building in the teaser trailer and wedding highlights below. The front of the building was perfect for the group shot, some couples shots and family shots, as it made a good backdrop.

Filming of the ceremony

The aisle was lined with candles, which gave the room a romantic atmosphere. I like to set up my camera on a tripod at the front of the ceremony room and facing the bride. That way, I can get the best shots during the vows. Sometimes, there are things at the end of the aisle like trees or posts or flowers. These look amazing but it can make it difficult for the photographer and videographer to get a good shot. This is worth considering when you’re planning out your wedding decorations.

Abbey House Hotel Teaser Trailer

I try to edit together a teaser trailer if possible, as it gives the couple a taster of the shots that were captured on the day. They also have the three minute highlights video and the full edit of the day to look forward to! I think it’s important to have the full edit of the day as well as the highlights videos, as it’s nice to watch all of the vows and speeches. It’s also nice to see your guests having a good time. There are so many moments captured on the full video, that it would be really hard, if not impossible, to include them all on a highlights video. You can take a look at the different packages on offer on our Prices page.

Wedding video highlights from Abbey House Hotel

There were so many lovely moments from this wedding, that it was hard to decide on what went into the highlights video. I like to try and include some shots from each part of the day so that a story is told. It’s nice to watch while you’re waiting for the full dvd.

Feedback from the couple

It’s always nice to hear what the newlyweds think of their wedding video. It was great to get this feedback from Catherine.

“Aww thanks so much Hannah I love it! I never cried on the day but that’s just made me fill up!! X”

“We watched our DVD over the weekend and absolutely loved it, thank you so much again xx”
